Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled a modern office complex for the Ho Municipal Assembly, marking a significant advancement in the region’s infrastructure. This project, which cost GHC 15 million and was funded by the District Assembly Common Fund, replaces a colonial-era building that had housed the Assembly and its various departments for many years. The new facility, completed in March of this year, boasts over 80 modern office spaces and conference rooms, effectively addressing long-standing issues related to inadequate workspace and improving operational efficiency within the local government. The ceremony highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure for the betterment of communities.

During the commissioning, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the government’s unwavering dedication to infrastructural development, asserting that the administration of President Akufo-Addo has set a benchmark in this area within Ghana. He quoted, “Our government is second to none in terms of infrastructure,” while stressing the necessity of quality infrastructure as a backbone for effective governance and service delivery. His remarks reinforce the importance of building resilient frameworks that can support the diverse needs of the population. This event also coincides with his role as the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the upcoming 2024 elections, where he reiterated the party’s ideology of equitable development—a principle he affirmed as central to their policymaking and governance approach.

The call for Ho to achieve Metropolitan status has been resonating among local stakeholders, including traditional and political leaders. In response, Dr. Bawumia confirmed that efforts are already underway to upgrade the status of the municipality. This recognition reflects the evolving needs of the growing population and the economic landscape, positioning Ho for enhanced administrative capacity and improved resource allocation. The Vice President’s announcement was met with enthusiasm, indicating a shared vision among local leaders and the government for the future of the Ho region.

Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa conveyed the significance of this new office complex as part of broader development initiatives within the region. He expressed optimism regarding the completion of similar projects aimed at other assemblies, noting their positive impact on administrative processes. Letsa described these infrastructural investments as “legacy projects” embodied by the NPP’s commitment to building a robust framework for governance. His commendations also highlighted the ongoing road developments and staff accommodations that are transforming the region’s infrastructure landscape, ultimately contributing to better public service delivery and regional connectivity.

Mr. Divine Bosson, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ho, acknowledged the pivotal role of President Akufo-Addo in bringing the office complex to fruition. His gratitude extended to all involved stakeholders, including traditional authorities who played a part in the project’s realization. As he prepares to contest the parliamentary seat for the NPP in the forthcoming elections, Bosson made an impassioned appeal to the community to continue supporting the party, underscoring that voting to retain the NPP in power would signal appreciation for ongoing development efforts in the region.

The inauguration drew strong community support, with traditional leaders like Togbe Ayim Adzokoto, the Paramount Chief of Takla, lauding the government for its development initiatives. The Chief’s prayers for sustained progress underline the community’s commitment to collaborating with the government toward achieving shared development goals. This shared goodwill reflects a collective aspiration for ongoing advancements that will benefit the residents of Ho, reinforcing the NPP’s vision under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership and creating a foundation for future growth that aligns with the community’s needs and aspirations.
