The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vehemently denied allegations of internal discord and destabilization attempts attributed to former Governor Kayode Fayemi. Responding to circulating rumors of a clandestine stakeholders’ meeting orchestrated by Fayemi, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, dismissed the claims as baseless fabrications designed to sow discord within the party’s ranks. Dipe characterized the rumors as propaganda, emphasizing that the APC remains united and focused on securing Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid, a goal shared by all stakeholders, including Fayemi.

Dipe attributed the spread of these rumors to external forces seeking to exploit any perceived vulnerability within the APC, recognizing the party’s dominant position in both Ekiti State and the nation. He acknowledged the existence of “crisis merchants” within the party who might seek to capitalize on such fabricated controversies, but expressed confidence in the party’s resilience against such disruptive tactics. Dipe reiterated that the APC is unfazed by these attempts to undermine its unity and stressed the party’s unwavering focus on winning the upcoming gubernatorial election, aiming to establish a precedent of back-to-back gubernatorial victories in Ekiti State.

The APC spokesperson clarified that any meeting convened by Fayemi, a prominent figure within the party, would only serve to strengthen the party’s position and support Oyebanji’s re-election. He emphasized Fayemi’s commitment to the party’s success, highlighting his instrumental role in building the APC’s strong foundation in Ekiti State. Dipe underscored the party’s belief that Oyebanji’s performance as governor merits a second term, a sentiment echoed by all stakeholders, including Fayemi. He framed any meeting called by Fayemi as contributing to this shared objective of securing Oyebanji’s re-election.

Dipe addressed the issue of various groups endorsing both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji, stating that while the party may not be directly involved in organizing these endorsements, it does not discourage them. He viewed such endorsements as beneficial for consolidating the party’s hold on governance. Dipe emphasized the APC’s strategic and focused approach, contrasting it with the perceived haphazardness of other political parties.

The party spokesperson issued a stern warning to those spreading false information about the APC, asserting that such attempts to create discord will not deter the party from its goals. He reiterated the APC’s unwavering focus on securing victory in both the gubernatorial and presidential elections. Dipe dismissed the activities of other political parties as inconsequential, emphasizing the APC’s internal focus on maintaining its trajectory and avoiding any distractions.

In conclusion, the Ekiti State APC has categorically denied allegations of internal strife and destabilization attempts, attributing such rumors to external forces and internal “crisis merchants.” The party maintains its unwavering support for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election, a goal shared by all stakeholders, including former Governor Fayemi. Any meeting organized by Fayemi is viewed as contributing to this shared objective. The APC remains focused on securing back-to-back victories in the upcoming elections and dismisses attempts to sow discord within its ranks as futile. The party emphasizes its strategic approach and internal cohesion, contrasting it with the perceived disorganization of other political parties in Ekiti State.
