The Nigerian Federal Government has embarked on a significant social welfare initiative, the National Social Safety Net Programme (NSSP), designed to mitigate the impact of economic reforms on the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. A total of N330 billion has been disbursed to 8.1 million households, representing a substantial portion of the 19.7 million households identified within the National Social Register (NSR). This register, encompassing approximately 70 million Nigerians, serves as the cornerstone of the programme, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
