Paragraph 1: The Goat Thief and His Lexus SUV

The Osun Amotekun Corps, a local security outfit in Osun State, Nigeria, recently apprehended a 56-year-old man named Ayo Akinpelu for stealing two goats. Akinpelu, a resident of Ondo town in Ondo State, was caught red-handed with the stolen animals concealed inside his Lexus SUV in Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State. Vigilant community members, suspecting foul play, intercepted Akinpelu’s vehicle and insisted on inspecting it, leading to the discovery of the goats. Unable to provide a satisfactory explanation, Akinpelu was promptly handed over to the Amotekun operatives who arrived at the scene.

Paragraph 2: A Confession and a History of Goat Theft

During interrogation, Akinpelu confessed to the crime, revealing a history of goat theft spanning over seven years. He admitted to using the stolen goats in his beer parlor in Ondo town, where he served pepper soup made from the animals to unsuspecting customers. Akinpelu detailed his method of luring the goats with salt to make them less aggressive during the theft. He also disclosed that he had previously been jailed for a similar offense but was later released on bail. His criminal activities frequently took him across the border into Osun State communities, targeting goats for his illicit business.
