Heritage Energy’s Ambitious Growth Plan for OML 30: A Path to Enhanced Production and Economic Development

Heritage Energy Operational Services Ltd., the operator of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 30 in partnership with Shoreline Natural Resources and NNPC Exploration and Production Limited, has unveiled a strategic plan to significantly increase its crude oil production. The company aims to boost its daily output from the current 45,000 barrels per day (bpd) to an impressive 100,000 bpd by 2030. This ambitious target reflects Heritage Energy’s commitment to maximizing the potential of OML 30 and contributing significantly to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector growth. This ambitious growth trajectory underscores the company’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in bolstering Nigeria’s oil and gas production, driving economic growth, and creating employment opportunities.

To achieve this ambitious goal, Heritage Energy has initiated a comprehensive investment program focusing on key areas to enhance production and operational efficiency. A central element of this strategy is the launch of a four-rig drilling campaign. This initiative targets underdeveloped fields within OML 30 and prioritizes gas development, aligning with Nigeria’s Gas Masterplan and its broader exploration objectives. The company anticipates a substantial increase in oil production over the next five years as a direct result of these drilling activities. This multi-pronged approach signifies Heritage Energy’s dedication not only to increasing output but also to fostering local economic development, generating employment opportunities, and ensuring sustainable resource utilization.

Beyond drilling, Heritage Energy is investing in critical infrastructure and technologies to optimize operations. A significant investment is being directed towards produced water disposal, a crucial aspect of oil production that enhances operational efficiency and maximizes output. Furthermore, the company is actively pursuing flare gas gathering and gas monetization projects. This initiative promises to unlock a new value stream from the asset, contributing to environmental sustainability by reducing gas flaring and generating additional revenue streams. This strategic investment directly addresses environmental concerns and aligns with global efforts to minimize the impact of oil and gas operations.

Recognizing the importance of efficient crude evacuation, Heritage Energy is also making substantial investments in the Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP). The TFP is a critical piece of infrastructure for OML 30 and other assets in the region, and its revamp is essential to accommodate the anticipated increase in production. These investments in infrastructure improvements reflect a long-term commitment to ensuring the efficient and reliable transportation of crude oil, further supporting the projected production growth. This proactive approach to infrastructure development emphasizes Heritage Energy’s commitment to ensuring a robust and reliable evacuation system for the increased crude oil production anticipated from OML 30.

Heritage Energy’s leadership has actively engaged with regulatory bodies to secure the necessary approvals and support for their operations. During a recent meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), the company sought expedited approvals for critical documents related to its drilling and other projects. These documents include technical invitations to tender, evaluation templates, compliance certificates, and training approvals. This proactive engagement with the NCDMB underscores Heritage Energy’s commitment to complying with Nigerian content regulations and ensuring transparency in its operations.

The NCDMB has expressed strong support for Heritage Energy’s investment plans, recognizing their potential to significantly contribute to increased oil and gas production, job creation, and economic growth. This aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the country, which prioritizes economic development and prosperity. The NCDMB has affirmed its commitment to collaborating with Heritage Energy to facilitate the successful execution of its projects and further its contribution to the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

OML 30, located onshore within the Niger Delta, is situated in one of the most prolific oil and gas provinces globally. The license covers a vast area of 1,097 square kilometers and encompasses eight producing fields, including Olomoro, Oleh, Uweh, Uzere, Ewvreni, Eremu, Oroni, and Kokori. In addition to these established fields, OML 30 boasts several partially appraised fields with significant oil and gas potential contained within numerous stacked reservoirs. This geological richness positions OML 30 for substantial growth and reinforces Heritage Energy’s confidence in its ability to achieve its ambitious production targets. The company’s strategic investments and proactive engagement with regulatory bodies further solidify its position as a key player in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, poised to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and development in the years to come.
