Keta Senior High Technical School (SHTS) has made a notable advancement in the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) by defeating established contenders Achimota School and Mpraeso Senior High School (SHS) in the quarter-finals. The intense competition took place on Wednesday night, October 23, at the SGS Auditorium, University of Cape Coast (UCC), drawing attention from academic enthusiasts and supporters alike. The quiz represented Contest 3 of the quarter-finals, and following an engaging showdown, Keta SHTS emerged victorious with a commendable score of 54 points, overshadowing Achimota’s 42 points and Mpraeso’s 21 points. This victory not only demonstrated Keta’s academic prowess but also earned them the highest score across all three contests held that day.

The representatives from the competing schools were poised and prepared to showcase their knowledge. Achimota School’s team included Kwabena Nwaghanata, who was later substituted by Noble Nyamekyenokwarfo Williams, alongside Daniel Kwadwo Ampofo-Twumasi. Mpraeso SHS was represented by Alex Asare-Duah and Rosalinda Antchui. Keta SHTS’s lineup featured Clinton Edem Adorsoo, later replaced by Frederick Adjavor-Sowalo, and Perpetual Sefakor Gakpetor, who contributed to their school’s commendable performance. Guiding the spirited contest was the quiz mistress, Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann, known for her engaging presence and expert facilitation during the quiz.

The NSMQ has consistently played a pivotal role in fostering interest and excellence in the fields of science and mathematics among students in Ghana.
