Katsina State is gearing up for local government elections scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025. In preparation for the polls, the state police command has announced a restriction of movement for both people and vehicles. This restriction will be in effect from 6 am to 4 pm on election day and covers the entire state. The purpose of this measure is to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of voters, allowing them to exercise their civic duty without fear of intimidation or disruption.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Allyu Abubakar Musa, has assured the public that adequate security arrangements have been made to enforce the movement restrictions and safeguard voters and election officials. He has urged all residents and stakeholders to comply with the restrictions to facilitate a peaceful and transparent electoral process. The Commissioner also encouraged eligible voters to actively participate in the election and exercise their right to vote in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Prior to the announcement of the movement restrictions, the Chairman of the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC), Lawal Alhassan, briefed the press on the commission’s preparations. To ensure timely delivery, the distribution process prioritized geographically distant local government areas.

Non-sensitive election materials had already been distributed the previous week.
