In a concerted effort to combat banditry and enhance security in Sokoto State, Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced the donation of 10 additional vehicles to the Nigerian Army. During the presentation of the vehicles to the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mutawalle, the governor expressed gratitude for President Bola Tinubu’s engagement with the nation’s security challenges. Aliyu underscored that the president’s directives to relocate key defense personnel to Sokoto signify a robust commitment to addressing criminality, not only in Sokoto but also in the broader North-West region.
In his interactions with President Tinubu, Governor Aliyu had prioritized discussions on the concerning security situation in Sokoto. His assurances of support from the president were seen as a step towards resolving the persistent security issues affecting the state. The governor noted that the newly provided vehicles would supplement an earlier contribution of 100 vehicles given to security agencies.
